Not just an eye test...
Here at CK Opticians we are always striving to offer the latest in optical technology, to give our patients the most accurate and comprehensive eye examination experience we can offer.
We have invested heavily in new state of the art optical technology to offer a more detailed, in-depth, bespoke eye examination.
Eye Examinations

We offer private and NHS eye examinations to all patients. Our friendly Optometrists will guide you through the test to ensure you are at ease and feel as comfortable as possible.
We have specialised procedures for colour vision testing and binocular vision assessments together with retinal photography and VDU testing. We also have facilities for specific visual field analysis.
Digital Retinal Photography

Digital retinal photography or fundus photography is a sophisticated process that uses a digital camera to take detailed pictures of the back of your eye.
We use it to document the health of the optic nerve, posterior pole, macula, retina and its blood vessels. We also use it to keep a permanent photographic reference of your eye health so we can review it again when you come back to see us next time.
Optical Coherence Tomography

An OCT examination is an enhanced service offered along with your standard eye examination.
OCT uses light beams to project onto the retina, at the back of the eye. This image then shows us the layers beneath the front surface of the retina.
The images allow us to take detailed measurements of the retina and optic nerve head. This information can give us a baseline for you and also monitor any eye conditions.
This service has a fee.
Cataract Referral Service

Cataracts are a clouding of the lens inside your eye. We can monitor cataracts through regular eye examinations. If and when you are advised by one of our Optometrists to consider Cataract surgery, you will be given all the information to make an informed decision on whether you wish to have your cataract surgery.
We can refer our patients to NHS local hospitals or NHS Partners offering Cataract services, such as Spa Medica, with significantly reduced waiting times.
Contact Lenses

We fit and supply many different types of contact lenses. The optometrist will carry out a visual assessment to determine what type of contact lenses are suitable for you and your lifestyle, as everyone is different. Our Optometrists will ensure that you have safe, clear and comfortable vision for all situations. We recommend you join our contact lens scheme which combines your eye care and contact lenses into one affordable monthly package. This allows you to spread the cost and have full peace of mind that you and your eyes are covered.
Children's eye examinations

-
All children under 16 years old are entitled to one free eye check every two years, or more often if recommended by the optician. In addition, they can also get an optical voucher to help pay for their glasses, which means many of our pairs are completely free for children. A children's eye exam is an expert assessment of your child's eye health and vision. We have many ways to test children's eyes other than the standard letter chart, so there is no need to worry if your child cannot recognise letters yet.
